'This is an excerpt from our Battle Ropes Certification. It discusses how the physics of battle ropes make it such a unique fitness tool! If you are interested in learning the free basics of battle ropes, checkout Level 1 here: https://www.living.fit/offers/mDLL62GV/checkout If you want to get certified, check out our certification here: https://www.living.fit/battle-ropes-virtual-certifications I want you to take a moment to imagine this last week. For the last seven days you have been interacting with people, making choices, thinking things, saying things, and doing things without very much reflection. This is normal for all of us. We all go about life, having experiences, opportunities, and moments, without really thinking about the consequences of our thoughts, words, and actions. Now we will take a few minutes to have a full concept of our last seven days. I want you to think about the moments with a loved one, the conversations you had with people, the choices of food, the times when you went to bed at the right time, and the times when you didn’t go to bed early enough. I want you to think about whether you hit snooze or not, whether you chose a healthy option for food, or you chose the foods that make you feel good for the moment but then make you feel shame and regret. There are many moments and opportunities in our life, and I want the very best for you and your life. I want you to wake up and think, “Next One Best One.” I want you to have this mantra in your head so much that you cannot help but do your very best in each opportunity and experience that you encounter. Introducing the Instructor My name is Aaron Guyett, and I have been training, coaching, and teaching people in fitness since 1999. I was into running, weight lifting, training for sports (hockey, soccer, football, and wrestling), since I was 11 or 12 years old, and then I joined the Marine Corps at 18, and started helping guys achieve their best in the Physical Fitness Test, as well as meeting the height and weight requirement in my infantry unit in 29 Palms, CA. I got out of the Marine Corps after deploying to Iraq, and started working a corporate office job. I was helping people in that company get stronger and lose weight, and then I realized that I do not want to be behind a desk anymore. I started training people at LA Fitness, and then quickly started training people independently, founding Innovative Results in 2005. I wanted that gym and our trainers to be the cutting edge of fitness education, and deliver incredible results, so we would bring in professionals and experts from around the World to teach us their skills and knowledge in training and fitness. John Brookfield came to our gym in 2010, and taught us his level 1 Battling Ropes System, and I was hooked. I remember him easily talking through some of the ropes stuff, while performing very powerful alternating waves. I thought it would be easy for me, because I was in great shape, and John Brookfield had a few extra pounds on his frame that wasn’t muscle. I was wrong. About ten seconds later, I was dying, and then a few more seconds I couldn’t get my waves to the end. The challenge and difficulty immediately intrigued me, so I got his Level 2 after 6 months of training, and started using it to help my clients, athletes, and combat athletes with work capacity and mental toughness. The problem was that there was no way to measure the output of the ropes and therefore, I couldn’t program them for any of my clients. I knew that they could make people strong, and build endurance, and train people in more functional movement patterns than barbells and dumbbells, I just couldn’t prove it. So after years of research, observation, and research, I discovered that wave physics variables are very similar to the variables in mechanical physics for power output. At this point I was asked by Onnit Academy to write and teach a 2 day certification, so I called John Brookfield up to get his approval. He said yes, and told me I could ask for help at any time along the way. So I wrote and started teaching the 2 day certification, and that was the start of Battle Ropes Education. Short after that, Equinox asked if I could teach a 4 hour education at their gyms around the World, and I said yes. History with Ropes Ropes have been around since early human history. There are archeological digs that have shown rope-making tools 28,000 years ago in Europe.[3] Egyptians were the first to have a written record of rope use, dating back to 4,000 to 3,500 BC. Think about that, we have been using rope to transfer force, power output, and load from one location to another for thousands of years, and it was only in 2006, when John Brookfield brought ropes into the fitness industry.'
