'Plug-Side Chat: Who Killed the Internal Combustion Car?'

10:15 Aug 14, 2023
'We all know that internal combustion engines are on their way out. But what will replace them? Pure battery electric vehicles? Hydrogen fuel cell vehicles? In my opinion, it will be plug-in electrics with natural gas (or other fossil fuel) range extenders based on fuel cell technology. The power density isn\'t as high as hydrogen, but with EREVs (extended-range electric vehicles) it doesn\'t need to be. The range extenders on both BMW\'s i3 and GM\'s experimental hydrogen fuel cell Colorado both only produce about 25 kW, which is well within the capabilities of current natural gas fuel cells.'
